Mission Reports: Rollover!

It’s rollover weekend at Colorado 4×4 Rescue and Recovery.

Our awesome volunteers spent a couple days on the west slope recovering a couple trucks that went off the road when conditions were extremely wet and muddy earlier in the week. Both ended up being rollovers, all occupants were okay, but both operations took some time with rigging and recovery.

Friday the 19th, Buzzard Creek Ram 1500 was recovered. This operation was quite a ways from any nearby town. The closest being Collbran to the west by about 30 miles, or about 35-40 miles south of Silt. The team took off Friday morning and started heading to the west slope. Everyone departed our meetup location about 10 AM and was on scene to the vehicle just before lunch.

Truck was recovered about 3 PM and the team began making their way back to town. Some of the responders took off to home, while others stuck around and stayed the night at a nearby hotel for Mission #2 Saturday.

The second recovery was located along Owen Creek, only located about 4 1/2 miles away from the Friday recovery! Additional responders took off early in the morning from the front range to meet up with the existing team still on the west slope. Everyone departed the meetup location at 10 AM again and was on-scene by noon again. This Chevy Silverado was recovered by 3 PM and the team made their way back to pavement once again. Once debrief was conducted, the long trek home began.

All responders were home by just before 7 PM Saturday.
