Mission Reports: Steven’s Gulch Ice Fest

Colorado 4×4 Rescue and Recovery has responded to Steven’s Gulch a couple times in the last few days to pull vehicles out of the snow, or back onto the road after sliding off on the ice.

This particular operation took a couple of winches off redirects to trees in order to get back onto the road and on their way home.

We are in the middle of the swing season where day time temps get well above freezing and at night drop way below freezing still. This causes the runoff and roads to go into a freeze thaw cycle that can create very long ice patches catching vehicle drivers off guard.

If you have tire chains, chaining up will help keep you on the road and is that little extra insurance that you won’t end up smashed against a tree!

Should have some video of this recovery to post up later!
